Galvanized Steel Coil
Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Coil has excellent performance, possessing ideal comprehensive properties of corrosion resistance, formation and coating. It is produced by passing the steel sheet which has undergone the acid washing process and rolling process through the zinc pot, thereby applying zinc film to the surface. It has excellent corrosion resistance, paintability, and workability due to Zinc's characteristic.
Galvanized Coil (GI) are mainly used in building, automobiles, metallurgy, electric equipments and more. Building - roof, door, window, roller shutter door and suspended skeleton. Automobiles - vehicle shell, chassis, door, trunk lid, oil tank, and fender. Metallurgy - steel sash blank and color coated substrate. Electric equipements - refrigerator base and shell, freezer, and kitchen equipment.

Galvanized steel is a carbon steel that has been coated with zinc. The most common method of zinc coating is the hot-dip process.
The hot-dip process consists of submerging the carbon steel into a molten zinc bath (approximately 680 degrees Fahrenheit). When the material is removed from the zinc bath and cooled a reaction to the oxygen in the air occurs. The reaction causes the zinc to become part of the steel (an iron-zinc alloy bond). The new surface finish appears to have a crystalline finish or spangled finish.
Galvanized coil and sheet are produced for applications in which corrosion resistance is important. The zinc coating lengthens the life of the end product, making it desirable for manufacturers. The appealing surface finish also makes it desirable for you.
According to American Standard (ASTM A653), it can be divided into galvanized steel with normal spangles (N), minimum spangles (M), and zinc-free spangles (F). Chinese standard (GB/T 2518) is similar to ASTM. While according to the European standard (EN10346:2015), the galvanized spangle can be divided into normal spangle (N) and minimized spangle (M). Japanese standard (JIS G3302) is close to the EU standard.

In fact, spangles only offer different surface appearances. But it will not influence the quality of zinc coating. However, as the base metal of prepainted galvanized steel coil, spangles will influence its painting adhesion and corrosion resistance. Therefore, small or zero-spangle products are better for the home appliance and automobile industries. There are many factors that affect the size of the spangle, for example,
(1) Base metal: The thicker the base metal, the smaller the surface roughness and the larger the spangle.
(2) Cooling speed: The faster the cooling speed, the shorter the crystal growth time and the smaller the spangle.
(3) Number of nuclei: The crystal grains are formed on the steel base, the more nuclei, the smaller the spangles.
(4) Other factors (production environment, cooling temperatures, etc.)

Zinc Coating Test:
The zinc coating layer weighing method is also named as dezincification method. According to the relevant provisions of GB/T13825, dip the sample into the deplating solution, dissolve the hot dip galvanized layer on the surface of the sample, weigh the quality of the galvanized layer before and after dissolution, and calculate the quality of the hot dip galvanized layer on the unit area of the sample according to the quality loss of the sample. This method is suitable for samples with easy surface area measurement, such as steel plates, steel pipes, and steel wires. The amount of the galvanized layer measured by this method shall be converted into the thickness of the galvanized layer in accordance with the density of the zinc coating layer (7.2 g/cm3). In the ASTM standard, the density of the zinc coating layer is 7.1 g/cm3 after conversion.
Tensile Test:
Tensile test is a test method for determining the properties of a material under axial tensile load. The data obtained from the tensile test can be used to determine the elastic limit, elongation, modulus of elasticity, proportional limit, area reduction, tensile strength, yield point, yield strength, and other tensile properties of the material. The procedure for the metal tensile test can be found in the ASTM E-8 standard. The microcomputer-controlled electronic universal testing machine is mainly used for testing various mechanical properties of various non-metal and composite materials. The professionally designed automatic control and data acquisition system realizes the full digital adjustment of the system. The collection of data, the control of the process and the post-processing of the test data during the test are all done by the computer. This equipment can automatically obtain tensile strength, peel strength, tear strength and so on.
