Hot rolled coils are made of slabs (mainly continuous cast billets), heated in a heating furnace and then rolled by roughing units and finishing units.

Hot-rolled coils are made of slabs as raw materials, and are made into strips by rough rolling mills and finishing mills after heating.
The hot steel strip from the last rolling mill of the finishing rolling is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow, and is coiled into a steel coil by the coiler.

The finishing line (leveling, straightening, cross-cutting or slitting, inspection, weighing, packaging and marking, etc.) is processed into steel sheets, flat rolls and slitting steel strip products.

Classification of hot rolled coils based on thickness:

 

Hot-rolled coils generally include medium-thickness wide steel strip and thin wide steel strip.

1. Medium-thickness wide strip refers to the thickness of ≥ 3 mm and < 20 mm, width ≥ 600 mm, with continuous hot rolling mill or furnace coil mill and other equipment production, delivery of steel coils.
2. Thin wide steel strip refers to thickness <3 mm, width ≥ 600 mm, with continuous hot rolling mill or furnace coil mill or thin slab continuous rolling and other equipment production, delivery of steel coils.





 

Product Application

 

Hot-rolled coil is the raw material for almost all steel products, such as cold-rolled coil, galvanized coil, pre-painted coil, angle steel, H Beam, flat steel, steel pipe, etc.

Uses of hot rolled steel:

(1) Structural steel: mainly used in the production of structural steel parts, bridges, ships and vehicles.

(2) Automotive structural steel: high strength steel plates with good stamping and welding properties, used in the production of automotive FRAME, WHEEL, etc.

(3) hot-rolled special steel: general mechanical structure with carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel, after heat treatment works for the production of various mechanical parts.

(4) Cold-rolled raw plates; used for the production of various cold-rolled products, including CR, GI, colour coated plates, etc.

(5) Steel plate for steel pipes: with good processing performance and pressure strength, used for the production of high-pressure gas pressure vessels filled with LPG, acetylene gas and various gases with an internal volume of 500L or less.
