Product Description

Galvanized coil is a thin steel sheet that is immersed in a molten zinc bath to make a layer of zinc adhere to its surface. It is mainly produced by continuous galvanizing process.

It is made by hot dip method, but it is heated to about 500°C immediately after it comes out of the tank, so that it can form an alloy film of zinc and iron. This galvanized coil has good paint adhesion and weldability.

Cold galvanized is also called electro galvanizied.The fields involved in electro-galvanizing are becoming more and more extensive. The application of fastener products has been widely used in machinery manufacturing, making galvanized chain link fences, electronics, precision instruments, chemicals, transportation, aerospace, etc., which are of great significance in the national economy. Hot-dip galvanizing is especially suitable for strong corrosive environments such as various strong acids and alkali fog.

Why is galvanized anti-rust?
Zinc has anti-rust and anti-corrosion effects, and galvanized steel can prevent rust. Galvanized steel includes galvanized sheets, galvanized pipes, etc., which are made of low-carbon steel plates and pipes. Low-carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy, which is easy to rust. The surface is coated with a thin layer of zinc. Zinc is a non-ferrous metal. It has good anti-rust and anti-corrosion properties, which can isolate carbon steel from air, zinc does not contain iron, and galvanized carbon steel does not undergo oxidation reaction and will not rust.


What is galvanized steel coil used for?
Galvanized steel coil and sheet products are now being used for a wide range of electric appliances, automobiles and other industrial machinery as well as for civil engineering and architectural purposes.

Is galvanized steel spark resistant?
Yes, hot-dip galvanized coatings are anti-sparking and non-incendiary as are most zinc coatings.

Why can't you heat galvanized steel?
High temperatures above 480 F (250 C) will accelerate peeling and continued exposure can result in the zinc-iron alloy layers cracking and separating from the steel. Temperature applications of hot-dip galvanized steel above 480 F (250 C) are not recommended.

Does fire damage galvanized steel?
Temperatures in fires can easily exceed 1,000 F. There is a potential for coating damage but many have found fire damage to minimal on galvanized steel. Often a layer of carbon dust coats the galvanized surface and under this layer the coating is intact.

What is the difference between galvanized and stainless steel?
The concepts of galvanizing and stainless steel are different. Galvanizing is a layer of metal zinc coated on the surface of the steel plate to prevent corrosion of the steel plate surface and prolong the service life; stainless steel refers to the resistance to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, water, and acids, alkalis, Steel corroded by chemically corrosive media such as salt, also known as stainless acid-resistant steel.

Galvanizing refers to a surface treatment technology that coats a layer of zinc on the surface of metals, alloys or other materials for aesthetics and anti-rust effects. The main method used is hot-dip galvanizing.

Advantages and disadvantages of galvanized steel compared with stainless steel: zinc steel has corrosion resistance, enhanced strength, steel deformation is not easy to break and environmental protection, and is not easy to rust. It is suitable for some public environmental hardware facilities used in harsh environments (wet, acid-base and other indoor and outdoor environments), and if the surface is sprayed and colored, the adhesion strength will be higher, but the corrosion resistance will disappear after the surface zinc layer is damaged. Stainless steel will not corrode, pit, rust or wear, and can achieve the highest strength of the two, but it is also expensive and difficult to weld. The biggest advantage of zinc steel is that it is cheap, and the biggest disadvantage is that it is not corrosion resistant.
