Silicon steel material
Silicon steel, also known as electrical steel, is a ferrosilicon alloy steel with a high silicon content. Its silicon content is usually between 1.0% and 4.5%. The silicon content of some high silicon steel sheets can reach 6.5%, and the carbon content is less than 0.08%. The material characteristics of silicon steel give it excellent properties such as high magnetic permeability, low coercivity, and large resistivity, so the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss are relatively small. In addition, in order to improve the magnetic induction performance and reduce the hysteresis loss, the harmful impurity content of silicon steel must be as low as possible, and its plate shape must be flat and the surface quality must be good.
Silicon steel can be divided into three categories according to manufacturing process and use: hot-rolled silicon steel, cold-rolled electrical steel, and special-purpose silicon steel. Among them, cold-rolled electrical steel can be divided into cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel and cold-rolled oriented electrical steel, the latter of which has higher magnetism along the rolling direction.
Silicon steel grades:
The standard grades of Chinese silicon steel mainly follow the GBT2521-2016 standard. Common non-oriented silicon steel grades include 35W230, 35W250, 35W270, 35W300, 35W360, 50W290, 50W310, 50W350, etc. The "W" in these grades represents non-oriented silicon steel, and the numbers are related to the performance parameters of silicon steel such as magnetic flux density.
Representation method of silicon steel grades
The representation method of silicon steel grades usually includes the following parts:
Type identification: such as "DW", "DQ", etc., used to distinguish the types of silicon steel, such as cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel, cold-rolled oriented silicon steel, etc.
Iron loss value: indicates the iron loss value per unit weight of silicon steel at a specific frequency and magnetic induction peak value, usually expressed as 100 times of this value.
Thickness value: indicates the nominal thickness of silicon steel, also usually expressed as 100 times of this value.
For example, "DW470-50" means cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel with an iron loss value of 4.7w/kg and a thickness of 0.5mm. The new model is now represented by 50W470.
Magnetic properties | The magnetic properties of the product is featured by its low core loss, high permeability and excellent application performance. |
Thickness tolerance | The good thickness tolerance is characterized by small difference in thickness in a direction parallel to the direction of rolling, small difference in thickness in a direction perpendicular to the direction of rolling, and high lamination factor. |
Processing property | The product is suitable for punching and cutting with excellent dimensional tolerance. |
Insulation coating | The insulation coating has small color deviation, good adhesiveness and excellent resistance to heating and corrosion with high insulation coating resistance. There are several types of insulation coating available for production. According to the test results performed by the professional inspection organizations, the contents of hazardous substances comply with all the prevailing international and domestic environment protection laws and regulations including EU RoHS and REACH regulations. |

Uses of silicon steel
Due to its unique physical and magnetic properties, silicon steel is widely used in many fields:
Electric power industry: Silicon steel is an indispensable magnetic material in the electric power industry, mainly used to manufacture the core parts of motors, transformers and electrical equipment. For example, large and medium-sized motors, generators and transformers are usually made of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel to improve their magnetic properties and efficiency.
Household appliances: Silicon steel is also widely used in household appliances, such as washing machines, range hoods, air conditioning compressors and other motors. Silicon steel is often used as the core material. With the improvement of the performance of household appliances and the improvement of energy-saving and environmental protection requirements, higher requirements are also put forward for the performance and quality of silicon steel.
Military and electronic industries: Silicon steel is also an important soft magnetic material in the military and electronic industries, used to manufacture high-frequency transformers, high-power magnetic amplifiers, pulse generators and other high-precision and high-demand electronic equipment.
Other fields: In addition, silicon steel is also used to manufacture electrical instruments, magnetic shielding devices, etc. Silicon steel also plays an important role in equipment such as transformers working under vibration and radiation conditions.
