1. Structure and Form: The core is a "circular cross-section + standardized specifications."

Cross-section and Dimensions: The main body has a uniform circular cross-section, with a diameter range of 0.8mm-500mm (common industrial specifications are 5mm-100mm).

Surface Condition: Based on processing accuracy and appearance requirements, the surface is divided into three:

Hot-rolled surface (No. 1):

The surface is rough (Ra ≈ 5-10μm), with some mill scale and a dull finish. It is primarily used for structural parts where appearance is not a priority (such as machinery bases and equipment brackets).

Cold-drawn surface (Cold Drawn):

The surface is smooth (Ra ≈ 0.8-3.2μm), with high dimensional accuracy (diameter tolerance ±0.02mm), and is free of mill scale. It is used for high-precision components (such as mechanical shafts and fasteners).

Polished surface (Polished):

Mechanically polished to a bright finish (e.g., mirror polish Ra ≤ 0.2μm, matte polish Ra ≈ 0.4-0.8μm). It is used for decorative or hygienic applications (such as medical equipment and food processing equipment).

 

2. Core Production Process: Determines Precision and Performance

Different processes correspond to different precision and strength requirements. The mainstream processes are categorized into three types:

Hot Rolling:

Stainless steel billets are heated to 1000-1200°C and rolled into round steel using a rolling mill. This process offers high production capacity and low cost.

Cold Drawing:

Hot-rolled round steel is stretched through cold drawing dies at room temperature. This process offers high dimensional accuracy and a smooth surface. Cold working also increases material strength (15%-30% higher than hot rolling).

Forging:

Stainless steel billets are forged into shape using a forging hammer or press. This process is used for heavy-load, impact-resistant applications (such as large mechanical spindles).
