There are many factors affecting the size of zinc flowers. When the zinc liquid composition has the conditions for the formation of zinc flowers, the following factors will affect the size of zinc flowers:

(1) Raw material: the thicker the raw material steel plate, the smaller the surface roughness, the larger the zinc flower.
(2) Cooling rate: the faster the cooling rate, the shorter the crystal growth time, the smaller the zinc flower.
(3) Number of crystal nuclei: The size of zinc flower is closely related to the number of crystal nuclei of zinc flower. When the surface of steel base is rough or the surface cleanliness is poor, the zinc flower is relatively small. Zinc grains are formed on steel base, and the more nuclei there are, the smaller the zinc flowers will be. This principle is used in the production process of small zinc flowers.

Galvanizing is one of the most effective and economical methods for protecting bare steel from corrosive environments. When two different metals are in contact and coupled with water and oxygen, sacrifice or current protection occurs. Zinc preferentially corrodes iron in steel. This protection prevents corrosion of the steel in areas not covered by zinc. Therefore, the diffusion of corrosion from cutting edges, drilling holes, etc. is minimized.

1 passivation
The galvanized layer is passivated to reduce folding corrosion (white rust) under tidal temperature storage and transportation conditions. However, the anti-corrosion performance of this chemical treatment is limited and, moreover, hinders the adhesion of most paints. This kind of treatment is generally not used in the zinc-iron alloy coating. Except for the smooth surface, as a routine, the manufacturer conducts passivation treatment on other types of zinc coating.
2 oiled
Oiling can reduce steel plate corrosion under wet storage and transportation conditions, and re-oiling steel plates and steel strips after passivation treatment will further reduce corrosion under wet storage conditions. The oil layer should be able to be removed with a degreasing agent that does not damage the zinc layer.
3 paint seal
An additional corrosion protection, especially anti-fingerprint properties, can be provided by applying a very thin film of transparent organic coating. Improves lubricity when forming and acts as an adhesion primer for subsequent coats.
4 Phosphating
Through phosphating treatment, galvanized steel sheets of various coating types can be coated without further treatment except for normal cleaning. This treatment can improve the adhesion and anti-corrosion performance of the coating, and reduce the risk of corrosion during storage and transportation. After phosphating, it can be used with a suitable lubricant to improve the forming performance.

Why do galvanized coils cause white rust and black rust?

The causes of white rust and black spots are as follows: black spots are formed by further oxidation of white rust.
The main causes of white rust are:
(1) Poor passivation, insufficient or uneven passivation film thickness;
(2) The surface is not oiled or there is residual moisture on the strip surface;
(3) The surface of the strip steel contains moisture during coiling;
(4) The passivation is not completely dried;
(5) Damp or rain during transportation or storage;
(6) The storage time of finished products is too long;
(7) The galvanized sheet is in contact with or stored together with other corrosive media such as acid and alkali.

The finished product is allowed to be stored in the warehouse for up to three months to avoid oxidation caused by long-term storage. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of use and prolong the service life of galvanizing, we should avoid the above factors that cause rust.
